Timeline

Where in the Development process is the project at?

The Development Application (DA) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Springdale Solar Farm were submitted by Renew Estate to the Department for Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) in June 2018.

The plans were placed on public exhibition to seek feedback (submissions) from the community and stakeholders from 18 July to 29 August 2018.

The project has been on hold since the Summer of 2018/2019. The transfer of the project to RES in March 2020 will restart the development process.

During the development process for Springdale Solar Farm, the community has been informed about and consulted with, in regards to the impact and benefits of the project through a variety of methods including face-to-face meetings, community information sessions, newsletters, telephone calls, and emails. The consultation process has included two public meetings held on 7 December 2017 and 8 August 2018 in Sutton Hall. The consultation with all stakeholders has helped to shape the layout of the solar. As the project continues to progress, RES is committed to openly and honestly engaging with the community, seeking their views and input on our plans and responding to their concerns and questions.

RES can confirm the Response to Submissions (RtS) was submitted to the NSW Department for Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) on 31 May 2020.  The RtS was accepted and put on public display by DPIE on 2nd June 2020.  The RtS was supported by an Amendment Report which sets out project changes since the Development Application and Environmental Impact Statement was submitted in 2018.  Both the RtS and Amendment Report can be viewed at the NSW Planning Portal here.

Following the Response to Submission, DPIE prepared their Assessment Report and recommended approval.  The Assessment Report was provided to the Independent Planning Commission (IPC) with a recommendation for approval.  The IPC commissioners held a site visit and public meeting in December 2020 and January 2021 respectively.  The commissioners determined the application on the 19th February upholding the recommendation by DPIE to grant approval.
